I’m very lazy. I will rarely try everything on before a trip, and as a result I tend to under-pack just in an effort to not over-pack. This time is going to be different (she said for the fifth time) — I’ve prepared a visual packing list to see what will work together and what won’t.
We are going to Iowa City for three days for a wedding, so packing really isn’t that big of a deal. Fun fact: Kristin doesn’t tell people, but we were both born in Iowa City, Iowa. That’s right — the cool and stylish NYC PR professional was born in the wholesome corn capital of the country (don’t even, Nebraska, don’t even).
Here’s what I’ve got:

plain white popover | denim popover | crop black sweatshirt | crop striped sweatshirt | black leggings | black jeans | green dress (Poshmark) | wool coat | cross body purse | leather tote | vintage pumps (Poshmark) | leather loafers
I do realize almost everything on that list is from Madewell. It’s one of my favorite brands and having go-to brands with a consistent aesthetic (not to mention quality) is important for us non-fashion majors. I’m pretty excited about those YSL shoes though — $30 on Poshmark!
It’s supposed to be high of 40s, and having spent the last two years in Texas, we are going to be colder than we’ve ever been in the 40s…so layering potential is important!

I’m pretty excited to see everyone and visit my grandparents in North Liberty and eat some Pancheros. As gross as it is during the winter, Iowa City is gorgeous in the spring and summer. I think of it as a cultural oasis in the middle of Iowa, and while I was in college it was declared an official City of Literature. Worth a visit if you’ve never been!
